Dear Friend:
Please join us, invitation below.
August 6, 1945 represents a day that forever challenges every person who loves the gift of life and creation with a choice – be silent or work to ensure that the horror never happens again.
Today, we now know that if less than 1% of the over 15,000 nuclear warheads in the world today explode that the climactic disruption caused by the debris in the atmosphere would destroy billions of innocent people. Hiroshima makes clear that if we solve every issue facing our peoples and nations and fail in this issue, then our failure will be existential and the suffering leading to our end will be beyond description . We cannot and will not let this happen, and we are glad that you feel likewise.
I am honored to be the keynote speaker in New York City on the theme Hiroshima: Never Again, Principles for Inner and Outer Peace (An Homage to Thomas Merton). It is inspiring to study the work of this twentieth century American and universal monk and wise man. I believe you too will be moved by his brilliant poem on the subject. I urge you to listen to the reading. Listen with your humanity, forget the rest.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Granoff,
